Compared to Benzyl Benzoate, Methyl Benzoate is more neutral but has a stronger odor. Anisic aldehyde is a constitutional isomer of Methylbenzoate, but the odor is completely different. Methylbenzoate is a volatile aromatic ester compound widely used in the perfumery industry, but is incompatible with strong acids, strong bases, nitrates and/or oxidizing agents (esters react with acids).
