Amyl Salicylate is produced by an esterification action from salicylic acid. Mainly used in floral and fougere perfumes. Amyl salicylate is good for combining isobutyl and hexel esters.
Core functions and applications
- Fixative action Slows the evaporation of volatile top and heart notes, thus extending the fragrance’s longevity on the skin.
- Floral enhancer Amplifies accords of orchid, lily of the valley, and clover-like floral notes.
- Fougère compositions Gives fougère fragrances extra sweet-spicy depth and a silky roundness.
- Green-spicy perfumes Brings together fresh green nuances with a subtle sweetness.
Blending tips
- Combine with jasmine or rose absolutes for a fuller floral note.
- Mix with lavender or geranium oil for a classic fougère texture.
- Add a drop of a fresh citrus note (like petitgrain) to highlight the green edges.
- In small-batch trials, use between 0.5% and 1.5% to test the balance between sweet and spicy.
