Hexyl Salicyate is used in aquatic, green and fruity fragrances and in the so-called white floral group, such as jasmine, gardenia and tuberose. Works well in fougere perfumes and eau de colognes. Compared to the other salicylates, hexyl salicylate is the most neutral.
Hexyl salicylate is a versatile fragrance ingredient with a sweet, floral, and slightly herbal scent.
It is commonly used in perfumery to:
- Enhance Floral Notes: It blends well with jasmine, orchid, and other floral accords, adding depth and complexity.
- Create Freshness: Its herbal and slightly fruity undertones make it suitable for fresh and clean fragrance compositions.
- Modify Aromatic Profiles: Hexyl salicylate can act as a modifier in fougère, chypre, and herbal fragrances, balancing and rounding out the scent.
- Layering: It pairs well with herbaceous notes like lavender and rosemary, as well as woody and musky bases.
Typical usage concentrations range from 0.1% to 1% in perfume formulations, depending on the desired effect.
