Algenone was one of the first naval bases (Synarome, 1950s), before Calone.
It acts as a “bridge” between citrus top notes and floral hearts, and can refine modern chypres and aquatic perfumes.
- Algenone has been a perennial Synarome specialty since the 1950s.
- The suffix PB/SP means Parfum Base / Specialité, and refers to the official standardized version supplied by Synarome.
- This ensures consistency in odor profile, IFRA documentation and quality regardless of batch or supplier.
Fragrance profile
- Top: fresh, ozonic notes with a salty, sea-breeze-like opening
- Heart: aquatic, slightly green and seaweedy, with a subtle rose floral nuance
- Base: soft, transparent, slightly powdery and clean, giving it an elegant finish
- Overall impression: a classic navy ozone base that lends a perfume a sense of airiness, sea and pure freshness
Use in perfumery
- Perfumes: adds a fresh, aquatic dimension to floral and citrus compositions
- Citrus-floral compositions: Combines bergamot, grapefruit and muguet/rose into an airy, sparkling whole.
- Shower gel & shampoo: reinforces the “clean, fresh” character and remains stable in aqueous formulations
- Creams & lotions: adds an airy freshness without being overpowering
- Home fragrance (candles, incense): creates a modern, fresh ambiance
Comparable fragrances
- Calone: Strongly ozonic with watermelon facets; Algenone is softer, less fruity, more naturally marine.
- Floralozone: Lighter, more floral-ozone; combines nicely but lacks Algenone’s salty depth.
- Ambrofix/Ambroxan: Ambergris-clean; not marine per se, but fills Algenone’s sea effect with heat and diffusion.
- Aldehydes (C-12 MNA, C-11 Undecylenic): Clean elevator and “linen” effect; together they give a high-key freshness.
- Ozonic base: Similar lightness; Algenone is more complex and less synthetic feeling.
