Veloutone® is a versatile and stable aroma ingredient with a soft floral, fruity character that is widely used in perfumes and personal care products.
It gives a velvety roundness to compositions and enhances both floral and fruity chords, and is known for its exceptional stability and wide applicability.The recommended dosage of Veloutone® is usually between 0.5% and 5% in a perfume formula, depending on the type of product and the desired intensity.
In functional products (such as soaps, shampoos or detergents), the percentage can be higher because Veloutone is very stable and resistant to alkaline and hot environments.

Similar aroma chemicals in terms of fragrance to Veloutone® are mainly lactones and fruity-floral molecules such as Aldehyde C-14 (γ-Undecalactone), Jasmolactone, Aldehyde C-18 (Coconut lactone) and some jasmine esters.
They share the soft, creamy, fruity-floral character that makes Veloutone so recognizable.
Guidelines for use of Veloutone®
- Fine fragrance (perfumes, eau de parfum, eau de toilette)
- Typical use: 0.5 – 3%
- For a clearly perceptible peach/apricot-jasmine nuance, up to 5% can be applied.
- Body care & cosmetics (lotions, creams, deodorants, shampoos, shower gel)
- Recommended: 0.2 – 2%
- Veloutone is stable in aqueous and emulsifying systems.
- Soaps and detergents
- Recommended: 1 – 5%
- High stability in alkaline media and when heated.
- Candles & air fresheners
- Recommended: 1 – 4%
- Good odor diffusion and heat resistant.
