Triplal is often used in colognes and fougeres and in jasmine accords, to provide a fresh green and subtly fruity note. It gives a kind of spring effect to a floral accord. Compared to other green molecules, Triplal has a more metallic note. Chemically, triplal is an aldehyde, and can form diethyl acetals in alcoholic perfumes, but this actually has no effect on the scent. Furthermore, Triplal is unstable in acidic and very alkaline products. Triplal forms a Schiff’s base with Methyl Anthranilate (still a green scent but slightly more fruity).
