Color is involved in almost every part of a perfume, from the packaging and bottle to the liquid itself.
It’s the first thing that catches our attention, even before we smell the fragrance.
The color of a perfume communicates the nature and foundation of the scent.

🧼 Compatibility in Soap
Ingredient | Usability in Soap | Notes |
---|---|---|
C.I. 42051 | ✅ Yes (Bar & Liquid Soap) | Water-soluble dye with good acid & alkaline fastness. Ideal for vibrant blue shades. |
E202 | ✅ Yes (Preservative) | Effective against mold & yeast. Common in liquid soaps and personal care products. |
⚠️ Considerations
- Cold Process Soap: Patent Blue V may fade or shift color due to high pH. It performs better in melt-and-pour or liquid soap bases.
- Preservative Use: Potassium Sorbate is more effective in water-based products. In bar soap (which has low water content), it’s less critical unless you're adding botanicals or fresh ingredients.
- Regulatory Limits: In cosmetics, E202 is typically used at concentrations up to 0.6%
