Ombre d’Orient (inspired by Oud Ispahan)

This is pure, concentrated perfume oil and still needs to be diluted.
This can be done with perfumer’s alcohol, or alcohol-free with a carrier oil such as jojoba or fractionated coconut oil .

Top : Labdanum, Rose

Heart : Oud, Patchouli, Sandalwood

Base : Amber, Saffron, Cedar

 

Example:
To make 50 ml of eau de toilette, use 2.5 to 5 ml of the fragrance concentrate and add 45 to 47.5 ml of perfumer’s alcohol or jojoba oil.

💡 Explanation : The higher the percentage of fragrance concentrate, the more intense and longer the scent lasts.
Perfume contains the most concentration and lasts the longest on the skin.
Aftershave and Eau Fraîche are the lightest and evaporate faster.

Ombre d’Orient is a rich, oriental floral fragrance with labdanum, rose, oud, patchouli, sandalwood, amber and saffron.
But as a hobby perfumer you can deepen, extend or personalize this scent even further with aroma chemicals.

Some suggestions:

Enhance floral depth

• Damascenone – enhances rose and gives a fruity, rich undertone
• Phenylethyl alcohol – classic rose component, soft and floral
• Hedione – gives transparency and lift to the floral heart

Enhance wood & smokiness

• Guaiacol or Veratraldehyde – for a smoky, mysterious note
• Iso E Super – velvety soft wood, enhances diffusion
• Cashmeran – musky, woody and slightly spicy

Amber & warmth deepen

• Ambroxan – modern amber, powerful and long lasting
• Cetalox – clean amber base note
• Vanillin or Ethyl vanillin – for a soft, warm sweetness

Saffron & spices accentuate

• Safraleine – synthetic saffron, powerful and spicy
• Eugenol – clove-like, enhances the oriental character
