Habanolide® is a synthetic musk molecule with a clean, sweet, long-lasting scent. It is often used to add a modern musk note to perfume compositions. Habanolide® stands out from other musk fragrances because of its orange blossom note. This fragrance note only becomes perceptible when the molecule macerates in its base for several weeks. It is often used in white floral notes, orange blossom and woody notes, and is useful in marine and amber notes.
Habanolide® combines the strength and tenacity of the aromatic musks with the pleasantness and elegance of the macrocyclic musks. The chemical name is (E)-oxacyclohexadec-12-en-2-one. It has the molecular formula C15H26O2 and a molecular weight of 238.37 g/mol.
