Choya Nakh
Choya Nakh is a unique aromatic material traditionally produced in India.
It is created through destructive distillation of roasted seashells (onycha) combined with sandalwood heartwood (Santalum album).
The process involves slow roasting the seashells in a large earthenware vessel called a “choya,” which results in a light brown oil with an intense, smoky, oceanic, mossy, and woody aroma, complemented by sweet amber-like undertones.
This rare material is often used in niche perfumery to add depth and complexity to fragrances.
It blends well with ingredients like ambrette, cedarwood, patchouli, vetiver, and frankincense
