Pretty Oud falls into the woody family because of its dominant smoky, leathery and woody character but also has similarities with the oriental fragrance family.
It has a sensual and warm profile with rich amber undertones, which also makes it suitable for ambery blends.

Pretty Oud is very powerful and intense.
Many perfumers dilute it to 5–10% for use in blends, as it can otherwise quickly become overpowering.
