Ethyl Vanillin (Solvay) is one of the most beloved and versatile fragrances within modern perfumery. This refined molecule – produced by Solvay/Rhodia – is known for its powerful, creamy and long-lasting vanilla fragrance with a pronounced gourmand character.

Compared to regular vanillin, Ethyl Vanillin is about three times stronger, with a warmer, more rounded sweetness. This makes it an excellent choice for perfumers who want to add depth, warmth and a luxurious vanilla signature to their creations.

  • Gourmand/amber perfumes: up to about 3%.
  • Subtle vanilla touch: 0.05% – 0.2%

Use in other applications

  • Candles & home fragrance: 1% – 5% (depending on wax and desired strength)
  • Bodycare (cream, lotion): 0.05% – 0.5%
  • Soaps: 0.1% – 1%

💡 Formulation tips

  • Combines well with: coumarin, heliotropin, tonka bean, musk, amber, sandalwood, lactones, cocoa and caramel notes.
