Cedrol presents a mild, dry, woody scent with distinctive cedarwood facets, layered with soft earthy and leathery undertones.

It exudes calmness and is frequently used as a fixative in masculine, woody or balsamic fragrance accords.

Cedrol Crystals are highly valued as a natural fixative in perfumery.
Their dry, woody, cedar-like character adds structure and longevity to a wide range of compositions.

They are especially used in:

  • Woody and leathery fragrances
  • Masculine fougère and chypre blends
  • Soaps and detergents (due to their alkaline stability)
  • Floral-woody accords, often with ionones or musks

IFRA Assessment – Cedrol Crystals

Cedrol is listed on the IFRA Transparency List  as a natural fragrance ingredient. According to the latest IFRA Standards (Amendment 51), no specific restrictions apply to Cedrol Crystals.
It is considered safe for use in perfumery and cosmetics when used appropriately.

However, practical dosages are typically:

  • Fine fragrances: up to 5% as a fixative
  • Soaps and household products: 0.5–2%
  • Air fresheners and industrial fragrance bases: up to 10% depending on formulation

Notes:

  • Although Cedrol is unrestricted by IFRA, its final use should always be assessed in the context of the end product and concentration.
  • It is commonly used in woody, leathery, and masculine accords as a long-lasting fixative.
