The aroma of Rectified Cade Oil is intense and characterful: a deep, smoky wood note reminiscent of smoldering campfire, weathered leather, and resinous tarwood.
The aroma is:
- Base note : powerful, earthy and soothing
- Texture : syrupy and warm, with a medicinal base
- Atmosphere : mystical, protective and grounded — perfect for meditative perfumes or masculine compositions
Similar to Vetiver or Labdanum, but with a distinctly smoky signature that instantly gives a perfume depth and character.
In fine perfumery, rectified Cade oil is prized as a powerful and atmospheric base note with a pronounced smoky-leathery character .
Application in Fine Perfumery
- Olfactory profile :
- Smoky , tarry , woody , with nuances of burnt pine , ash , and dry leather.
- Less sharp than birch tar, with a drier, more elegant smoky note
- Usage :
- Base note in leather accords , fougères , tobacco perfumes , and niche fragrances
- Adds depth to woody , animalic and mystical compositions
- Often used in men’s perfumes , incense themes , and chypre fragrances
- Mixes well with :
- Lavender , Cedarwood , Bergamot , Frankincense , Rosemary , Labdanum , Thyme , Clove Bud.
- Dosage :
- Typical use in perfume compound: 0.2–0.6%
- IFRA Category 4 (leave-on): max. 0.25% in the final product
