Benzoin absolute is a rich, balsamic resin obtained from the bark of trees in the Styrax family, which are found primarily in Southeast Asia. It has a warm, sweet and slightly vanilla-like scent, making it a popular ingredient in perfumery. Benzoin absolute is often used as a fixative because it helps stabilize and extend the life of fragrances. The comforting scent fits beautifully into oriental, gourmand and woody compositions.
In addition to perfumery, benzoin absolute is also valued in aromatherapy for its calming and grounding properties.

Benzoin absolute rocks are a solid form of benzoin resin, which is widely used in perfumery for its warm, sweet, and balsamic aroma. Here’s how they are typically used:
- Dilution: Benzoin rocks are often dissolved in alcohol (like ethanol) to create a tincture or absolute. This process makes it easier to blend with other fragrance ingredients.
- Fixative: Benzoin helps stabilize and extend the longevity of a fragrance by anchoring volatile top notes.
- Blending: Its rich, vanilla-like scent harmonizes beautifully with oriental, gourmand, and woody compositions.
- Depth and Warmth: It adds a comforting depth to perfumes, making it a popular choice in winter or evening fragrances.
