Indolarome is a technical marvel because it mimics the “fleshy” and almost “erotic” side of flowers. In perfumery, we call this a narcotic effect.
Here’s how it interacts with other groups:
1. The Synergy with White Flowers (The Booster).
Indolarome is the backbone of a realistic floral accord. Without an indolic touch, synthetic jasmine often smells like “air freshener.
  • Combination: Mix it with Benzyl Acetate (the classic jasmine scent) and Linalool.
  • Effect: Indolarome gives the “heaviness” and depth you smell in a flower about to wilt-that’s exactly what makes a perfume natural.
2. The “Dirty” Leather and Animal Accord.
In niche perfumes, Indolarome is used to create an animalistic, almost skin-like warmth.
  • Combination: Works beautifully with Castoreum or Isobutyl Quinoline (leather).
  • Effect: It softens the sharp edges of leather and adds a velvety, animalistic “vibe” reminiscent of warm skin.
3. Fixation and Base Notes
Thanks to its enormous shelf life of 400 hours on a fragrance strip (according to IFF specifications), it acts as an anchor for volatile top notes.
  • Combination: Use it in the base with Sandalwood or Patchouli.
  • Effect: It makes the floral heart notes “sing” on the skin much longer, even hours after the lighter substances have evaporated.
4. Contrast with Citrus (The Sparkle).
  • Combination: A fraction of Indolarome in a Bergamot or Neroli cologne.
  • Effect: It gives a surprising, classic depth to fresh fragrances, similar to the structure of famous vintage perfumes such as Joy by Jean Patou.

Olfactory description

Indolarome is a sophisticated and powerful aroma molecule that mimics the characteristic, deep scent of white flowers (such as jasmine and gardenia).

The fragrance is floral and indole-like: it possesses the animalic, almost narcotic warmth of natural floral extracts, but with a striking clarity.

Unlike raw indole, Indolarome is more refined and less “heavy” or fecal, giving an elegant depth to a composition.

Product Information:

  • Chemical Identity: A high-purity compound (indeno-dioxin) that serves as a technically superior alternative to indole.
  • Color stability: The biggest advantage of Indolarome is that it does not discolor. Where traditional indole causes perfumes or soaps to turn dark brown, Indolarome remains stable and white.
  • Melting point: 35.0°C – 40.8°C. This is very low; it already melts when heated slightly (almost hand warm), which facilitates mixing in liquid fragrance mixtures.
  • Flash Point: >100°C (safe for use in candles and transportation)
  • Purity: With a measured value of 99.98%, this is an ingredient of pharmaceutical precision, ensuring consistent fragrance with no variation between batches.
  • Allergens: Contains no declarable amounts of allergens (<0.001%)

Applications

  1. Fine Perfume: Indispensable for creating realistic Jasmine, Tuberose, Lily of the Valley and Orange Blossom.
  2. Cosmetics & Soap: The ideal choice for white soaps, creams and shampoos because of its outstanding stability and color fastness.

Processing Tip:

Because Indolarome is extremely potent, we recommend making a 10% or even 1% dilution in DPG or ethanol. (or use our “Ready-to-Use” variant).Use this 10% solution in your formulas to add depth to Jasmine, Gardenia or Leather accords. Even from a 10% dilution, you often only need a few drops for a spectacular effect.
Pure from the jar the scent can be overwhelming , but in the right dilution it reveals its magical floral brilliance.
